Nothing went right for the Pilots tonight at Fleming Stadium, losing 17-5 to the Wilson Tobs. With this loss, they now fall two games behind the Morehead City Marlins in the second half.

Ryan Dooley (James Madison), Chris Martinez (Univ. of Science and Art), and Cole Stanford (Lenoir Rhyne) all had multi-hit games for the Pilots tonight.

Sloppy play by the Pilots lead to the Tobs taking an early lead in this game, as three Pilot errors helped the Tobs take a 5-0 lead in the first inning.

Two two-run home runs in the bottom of the second extended the Tobs’ lead to nine runs.

The beatdown continued in the third inning, as the Tobs tacked onto their run total with a three-run home run.

Most of the offense from the Pilots came in the sixth inning where they scored four runs. Hunter Cole (Randolph Macon) highlighted the inning with a three-RBI double to right-center.

Cole Stanford recorded an RBI on the day on a single to left field.

With their next game coming on July 26th, the Pilots will have some time to refocus for the rest of the season.
