The Pilots carried over their hot sticks to open the night, but were met with two Mustangs runs in the third inning before scoring four unanswered to close it out.
Peninsula (4-0) defeated Martinsville (1-3) behind a big two-out three-run inning in the bottom of the sixth.
“I’ve never had a feeling where I thought we were going to lose, even when we were down, even when it was a close game,” freshman right fielder Elijah Lambros said. “I’ve always had that feeling where we’re somehow going to win this game.”
