The Pilots take on the Tri-City Chili Peppers tonight at Shepard Stadium. The Chili Peppers have been a tough opponent this year for the Pilots, handing them three losses in three close matchups. While their final scores haven’t shown it, the Pilots have shown improvements on the hitting side, having outhit their opponent in two of their five games. Turning these hits into run production while keeping up their pitching success should lead to a much-needed win.
The last matchup between these two teams was last night, where Tri-City took a 2-1 lead. The pitching was magnificent on both sides, with the winning run coming on a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth.
Jay Schueler (Southeastern University) hopes to continue the pitching success for the Pilots in his debut. This season at Southeastern University, Schueler earned a 4.13 ERA in 24 innings of work., striking out 32.
The Pilots look to get their first win of the season tonight at 7.
