Biography:
2009 (Freshman): Ping Baseball Freshman All-America Team... Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team... Enjoyed one of the most prolific seasons by a Richmond freshman by leading the club in hitting (.355) with a school freshman record 31 stolen bases (39 attempts)... His 31 steals was the most by a rookie in the NCAA in 2009 and tied for the third-most by a Spiders in a season... Also led the Spiders with a .353 average in A-10 play... Struck out just 21 times in a team-leading 197 at-bats... Named A-10 Rookie of the Week on March 2 after batting .476 (10-for-21), scoring 10 runs, stealing four bases and playing error-free ball in wins over Longwood and VMI and two over Iona... Had two-steal games eight different times... Stole 13-consecutive bases without being caught... Hit safely in all but six games... his 14-game hitting streak from April 8 to May 2 was the longest by a Spider in 2009... Also had a 10-game hitting streak earlier in the year... Had three hits and scored twice at No. 2 North Carolina... Had four hits with a double, triple, RBI and three runs in the middle game versus Massachusetts... His 18 multi-hit games was second-most behind Mike Mergenthaler's 19.
High School: Highly-touted prep athlete out of Tabb High School... Selected as a top prospect at the Perfect Game National Underclass Showcase and picked as one of the state's top prospects by Virginia Preps... Was a First Team All-District, All-Region and All-State selection on the heels of his senior season... Batted .604 in 2008 with 19 RBI after batting .340 as a junior... The speedster swiped 42 bases in his final two years (25 as a senior)... Other senior-year honors included the Daily Press Player of the Year, District Player of the Year and the Tabb Male Athlete of the Year... Honorable Mention All-State pick as a junior... Lettered three years in both baseball and indoor track. |
