Pilots Host Kevin Eadie Night Friday

The Peninsula Pilots are having their annual "Kevin Eadie Night" this upcoming Friday, July 30 at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton.  The annual commemoration pays tribute to the late Kevin Eadie who suffered from a very cruel and fatal children's disease called Niemann-Pick Type C (NP-C).

Eadie spent his time at the ball yard, playing Little League Baseball for York County for four years but proudly held the position as Batboy for the Peninsula Pilots Baseball team for seven seasons.  He took in every minute spent with the Pilots, working tirelessly against great odds as the Pilots Batboy.  Kevin's love of the game reached farther than his favorite local baseball team as Kevin was a desirable fan of former Pilots, MLB player John Bowker of the San Francisco Giants and MLB player, Ryan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals.

Niemann-Pick Tyep C is a neurodegenerative disease that primarily strikes children in their early childhood years with death occuring before or during adolescence.  Happy and healthy children in their early childhood begin to suffer from a painful and gradual neurological decline because of damage the brain as result of the body's inability to metabolize cholesterol.

General admission is $5 for everyone and all proceeds for Friday night's game will be donated towards the Kevin Eadie Foundation, Inc.

The Kevin Eadie Foundation Inc., is a non-profit charitable foundation.  The Foundation's mission is to fund Niemann-Pick Type C (NP-C) research, and to provide assistance with Kevin's medical needs and other children afflicted with NP-C.  Kevin's Foundation operated under the Federal guidelines of non-profit organization and donations are used to support the Foundation's mission.

Contributions to the Kevin Eadie Foundation, Inc. as well as information regarding Kevin Eadie and his illness can be found at www.helpkevin.org.  Friday night's game at War Memorial Stadium is in tribute to the late Pilots Batboy, as the Pilots host north division rival Edenton at 7.
