Pilots Overpower Edenton

After a 4-3 extra inning thiller at War Memorial Stadium two days prior, Peninsula and Edenton met on the diamond once again at Historic Hicks Field Wednesday night.  Peninsula would have three-four run innings to guide them to a 14-6 win over the Steamers as Peninsula slides back into first place with Wilson.

Jimmy Rider's (Kent State) five RBI's on the night would lead the Pilots attack, as Peninsula would belt 14 hits off four Edenton pitchers.  Chas Crane (Winthrop) would knock in his league-leading eighth home run in the fourth, giving Peninsula a 4-1 lead.

Logan Robbins (Western Kentucky) joined the ranks of Crane on the day, as he would go yard in the next inning.  Following a Mike Mergenthaler (Richmond) lead-off single, Robbins would belt out his first home run of the year as the Pilots began to stretch out its lead.  Futhermore in the seventh, Kevin McKague (Army) would get his share of the long-ball action with his second home run of the year.  McKague's 3 RBI home run would be the nail in the coffin as Peninsula would get its 16th win in the second half, improving the teams record to 29-23 overall.

Buck Farmer (Georgia Tech) would come away with the Pilot's win, improving his record to 4-3 this year.  Farmer's five innings would be enough to claim the win, as he would would allow two earned runs on seven hits.  Edenton's Alex Loftin would receive the loss, as his four inning outing is his first loss of the year.

Peninsula returns to War Memorial Stadium Thursday and Friday as they welcome Petersburg on Thursday and Edenton once again on Friday, both games start at 7.  Friday's game is not-only Friday Fireworks, but is "Kevin Eadie Night."  Kevin Eadie was the proud Batboy of the Peninsula Pilots for seven years, but lost his battle to Niemann-Pick Type C (NP-C).  All ticket sales for Friday's game will be contributed to the Kevin Eadie Foundation, Inc.  For more information please visit www.helpkevin.org
